Last night I stopped at Hobby Lobby to pick up some embroidery thread for one of my vacation purchases and found an ipad case that I thought was cute. It was also on clearance sale so I just had to buy it. One problem - I don't have an ipad. lol I do have a tablet, but it's just a tad too tall to fit in the case. I can force the zipper closed, but when I try to unzip it the zipper snags the elastic. I was thinking I could deconstruct it, unfold the fabric and then sew it all back together again slightly bigger, but that seems like a lot more work than I want to do. That and I can't remember the last time I sewed a zipper and I really don't want to mess it up. Is there any other way that I can make this work?

Could you sew a strap or two on it and instead of the zipper just criss cross with straps and velcro?

Would you remove or leave the zipper at the top? If I should remove it would I just sew a zipper stop and remove that part of it? Your idea sounds like less work than what I've been thinking of doing. I was considering removing the zipper completely and making it more of a sleeve with a button tab or velcro at the top.

I am assuming that you bought it for the owl design and you are going to embroider that. I would take the canvas out and then insert in to some material and make an envelope case for your tablet

I finally figured out and finished this tablet cover. I ended up taking it completely apart and discarding the zipper. I had to extend the needlepoint a little on both ends, that's why you can see the blue line at the top and bottom. I hemmed the edge of the canvas as I stitched the design and hemmed the blue fabric to give it a nice finished edge. Then I sewed along the other three edges and added two snaps on the open side. The original plan was to space three snaps along the edge, but my charging port is in the center of the long side of my tablet and I wanted to be able to protect it while it's charging. It's not perfect, but it's cute!
