Got a little Matco Mig a while back, and I'm not really much of a mig welder. The old buzz boxes I can use well enough.
Came with spool of flux core, and I could never get it to weld proper.
Well out at the scrap yard I spied a broken down old mig with a pretty good size cap in it.
Got the cap for 8.50! comparable ones new are 70 bucks up...
Installed it and it did make a world of difference but still crappy welds.
So I got on line and figured out the problem.
The wire was + and the ground was negative, good for actual mig but not flux core.
So I swapped the wires around and soon discovered that the motor control of the gun had to be +...
I'm going to put a switch in eventually but for now I have a sewing machine peddle for a foot switch, I originally had it for my plasma cutter as I don't like the switch location on it, its on the back and a pain, I'll switch the head eventually and get one of the trigger style.
