Today's Washington Post has an article, "Scientists confirm there’s enough fossil fuel on Earth to entirely melt Antarctica." www.washingtonpost.com/news/energy-environment/wp/2015/09/11/scientists-confirm-theres-enough-fossil-fuel-on-earth-to-melt-all-of-antarctica/
The website summarizes the article, ""The process would likely take up to 10,000 years, but its consequences would cause nearly 200 feet of sea-level rise and irrevocably change the face of the planet."
Which reminded me of Barack Obama's quote, "We don't want to leave a plant to our children and grandchildren that isn't fixable."
This is so absurd. When it comes to climate, nothing is irrevocable. The 5 billion year history of earth's climate shows that nothing has been able to stop it from changing.

Besides, the reason oil is down is that consumption is down.
"In 2014 Americans used less petroleum than they did in 1997, despite the fact that the economy is nearly 50 percent larger than it was 17 years ago."

I got to wonder, do the people who write for the Washington Post, read the Washington Post.
At present growth rates the world's population should be at least double what it is now in a 1000 years and double that amount, or 30 billion people in 10,000 years. That number of people will have multiple effects on both the planet and the climate.
There are days when all four networks weather forecasters can't get the next days weather right.
