My bread machine I've had for the last 9 years finally broke today. I knew something was wrong with the paddle for a while but never could figure it out. Tonight, as I was cleaning it, I found that the post the paddle attaches to slid almost all the way out. With just a slight pull, the whole thing came out. If it wasn't that, I knew the motor wasn't going to last much longer anyway. So, I knew I was going to have to look at getting a new one sometime soon but I was holding out.
There are so many different ones out there. Does anyone have any recommendations on a good one? I need one that makes a 2 lb loaf (family of 6) and will do pizza dough and a few other different types of bread/doughs. I've been on Amazon checking out reviews but there are so many different opinions on the same ones I start loosing track.
Thanks for any help!

I had one at one time, but prefer to use my KitchenAid for kneading. It'll do so many other things, it's of far greater value in terms of time, money, and counter space, than the bread machine.
That said, Zojirushi is considered the gold standard for bread machines. Very high quality and versatile.
Or you could go to the thrift store. The one I go to the most usually has five or six on their shelves.

I do have a Kitchen Aid mixer but I like the bread machine so it will do all the work for me. Then I just take it out before the third rise and put it in bread pans and bake in the oven. I get easily distracted and would totally forget k had bread rising in the mixer bowl. Lol I've been keeping my eyes out for bread machines for a while now with no such luck. They are either too small or are so nasty I don't even want to think about taking it home. I have been looking at the Z ones but they are pretty pricey and we just can't afford that right now. ?

Right now, I have 4 used bread machines from Goodwill, bought for $5 to $15. I use the bread machine only for the dough setting and when it wears out, I replace it!

That's what I usually used mine for, just for the mixing and then pulled it out and baked in my oven in smaller loaf pans. I have been looking for ones at Goodwill and thrift stores for a while, knowing mine would go out soon, but haven't had much luck. After lots of thinking, I do think I'm going to try to make some with my KitchenAid mixer, though. We'll see how it turns out. I got to thinking that I can always set my timer so I won't forget that I have dough rising. Just hope my new kitchen is warm enough to help the dough rise (my old place had a cold kitchen, especially in the winter). This will also get more use out of my mixer instead of just using it to grate cheese and mix frosting and pancake batter.

I'll look at mine later this morning when I get there. I use it just for dough nowadays. But I used to make bread in it and my family loved it. It did a 2 or 2.5lb loaf.
It's great for pizza dough, cinnamon roll dough, regular dough...you name it. Except bagel dough. I really don't like the recipe for that one.
I bought it "new" to replace my old one when it broke. I do like this one better. It wasn't as cheap as a goodwill find, but it wasn't expensive either. And I've used it so much I feel I got more than the worth of the money I paid.

I use an Oster (model # 5838) that I picked up on sale at our local one-stop-shop store. I am pretty sure I didn't spend more than $35 on it, and it has been trucking right along for the last three years. Initially I baked full loaves in it, but now I use it for making dough only. It does 2 pounds with no problem. The boys eat a lot of bread, so I use it for at least a couple of loaves each week.

Mine is the Oster 2lb express bake breadmaker. Similar to kawaiitimes I used to make bread in it but now just use the dough functions.
