An older lady from church asked me if I would like some quilting items. SURE!!!! says I. I stopped today. It seems someone she knew recently passed away. She was apparently a hoarder of all things fabric! She had boxes & bolts of fabric. The gal that died was a seamstress & had a bunch of quilts sewn together & ready to quilt, just never quilted them. I came home with a king size flower garden quilt to quilt. I always wanted to make one. It's the one that is the little hexagon pieces of fabric sewn together in flower patterns. The gal has sewn them all together by hand!! Her stitching is perfect. I'll try to get a picture later. She had 3 of these! I also have quilt blocks that just need sewn together & then quilted, I came home with 5 baby quilts that just need quilted, a tablecloth to embroider with thread included, a set of quilt blocks to do with all thread included, & a pile of fabric. She told me to come back when I want to get some more!! This was all for the total price of $0.00!!! She said she hadn't paid for it & wasn't going to charge me. I am in quilting heaven!!! She has 11 kids of her own, but most are boys & the girls don't quilt. She knew I liked to quilt so thought she would pass it on to me. She said they still had 2 storage units to go through that this lady has things in so who knows what else will be found. Heaven, I'm in Heaven, & my heart beats so that I can hardly speak............................... got that song stuck in my head now!

Enjoy!! This has happened to me several times. I have boxes and boxes of material given to me, even a serger machine and a sewing machine, thread, notions of all kinds. All for free. I pass along whatever I can. I kept the serger and gave the sewing machine to one of Bill's sisters.

You might even consider giving one of the quilts to the lady who sent them your way. Quite a treasure trove you have there!

I may donate the big quilt back to our church picnic. I usually give one every year. The lady I got them from is 8 & also an avid quilter. She said she would just never be able to use it all in her lifetime. Told me to come back when I want more.
