They descended from grey wolves about 15,000 years in central Asia. (Where incidentally so did modern man).
This would suggest that the first peoples to come to the Americas were dog less.

Modern man descended from grey wolves? That's just weird.

After 1 am I should be more mindful of the difference between 'which' and 'where.'

There’s evidence showing Indians came to N America at various times. I think the longest is 26,000 years, but others came later.

The Barn Wolf predates the Pole Building Wolf that we are more familiar with.

The Barn Wolf predates the Pole Building Wolf that we are more familiar with. Cousin of the lean-to wolf which, when crossed with a barn wolf begets the hybrid, known as a run-in wolf.

The Barn Wolf predates the Pole Building Wolf that we are more familiar with. Why do you have to bring the Polish into this?

@trellis, the Polish get brought into a lot of stuff they'd rather stay out of...world wars and iron curtains come to mind. Maybe they need better armed wolves.

Modern man descended from grey wolves? That's just weird. I have been asked if I was raised by wolves... There may have been some truth then in how Rome came to be with the legend of Romulus and Remus. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romulus_and_Remus
