I sewed this together tonight. I can't take credit for the squares with the pinwheel looking pattern. I was given these blocks in a box of stuff I got from the lady I know from church. I cut out the purple squares & maroon squares & sewed it together tonight. Now I just need to quilt it. I normally do not do this type of quilt as my sewing skills on the machine are not very good. It didn't turn out too bad though. The gal that put the blocks together was a seamstress & her sewing skills are absolutely amazing. Perfect seams & matching of patterns. Beautiful work. I have several baby quilts she had put together that I just need to quilt. I'll try to get some pictures of them.

Absolutely lovely, Wendy - you sure lucked out being given such great blocks. I don't recall seeing that pattern before. How are you planning to quilt it? Looking forward to seeing the baby quilt pictures.

I'm still thinking on that one! I only do hand quilting so will need to come up with some way to quilt this & have it look good. I need to go back to the church lady's house for batting & backing which she also has for me. I love being able to support an addiction without it costing me anything!!

Yea, those pointy triangles are not for the faint of heart. Nicely done. You could stitch in a ditch around the pinwheels, then echo quilt around them. Follow the same theme on the blank squares, outlining the pinwheel then stitching twice.

Wendy, I am hijacking you! Here is a quilt I am working on. I have limited time so my mom comes over Wednesday afternoons to help me (she irons and rips seams, mostly). I have 6 more rows to do before the top is done. Hoping to finish it before Christmas for my little one.

That quilt is beautiful. I can remember my grandma and mom quilting.
When we stayed at grandma's house we had the middle bedroom that did not have a stove in it. We were covered in so many quilts, I can't remember ever being to roll over!
Good memories.

I am going this weekend to pick up a quilting frame I saw on Craigslist, $75! It is big enough for a king size quilt.

My dad used to make and sell quilting frames. $75 is a bargain!

kawaiitimes, I absolutely love your quilt. Is it an original design? Never seen anything like it before, hence my question. Great job. Hope you'll post a picture of it when it's finished.

If you are talking about the quilt I posted, yes, it is a one of a kind. The gal that sewed the squares with that design was a seamstress. She had probably 20-30 quilts together, but not quilted. I love some of the things she did. I will post a picture when I get it done. I got the backing today.

Wendy, I wonder if the girl that sewed the squares is a member of Stashbusters. With that many tops to finish, she'd be in great company. Yes, please - keep those pictures coming. There is nothing more exciting than seeing other people's work. Love it. :-) I've just got two quilts back from being long-arm machine quilted as they're waaaaay too big for me to cope with on my domestic machine. One is a French Braid quilt for a friend who lives a couple of hours away, and the other is an original goat themed quilt that I made for an online friend in the South Island. I'll try and post photos when I get the bindings on.
