It's been so stormy - flooding in many WA/OR towns, I-5 northbound and US 30 both closed by slides yesterday, so travel was a nightmare. One lane of the freeway is open, but it's very slow going. Even the lake on my drive to town is up so high it's coming over the highway in one spot. Tornado in one town, thunder and lightning and high winds here today. My heart goes out to those who are affected by the flooding. Even the Tillamook Cheese factory had to shut down yesterday - that might be one of the most tragic consequences of all.

Today there is expected to be flooding along coastal areas due to very high tides, wind blowing large waves onshore (heard that 30 footers are expected) and all the rain. The news was trying to harangue the public into not going out on the rocks to experience the surf. But every year a few people get washed out to sea doing just that. The news said that even normally safe parking lots could experience flooding. I heard that this was supposed to be an especially high tide even without storms and flooding, so I can't imagine how bad it is. And I love watching the storms and surf as much as the next person, but to go out in these conditions is just plain nuts!

There is a really big surf up right now. I live ten miles inland and it can be heard very loudly.
