As the winter solstice approaches, I have been thinking about the Daylight Savings vs Standard time debate. It's on everyone's mind when the clocks change twice a year, but then pretty much forgotten. I wish that the powers that be would abolish time changes and just let us have our seasonal sunrises and sunsets without messing up our internal clocks. This article has maps that show what the results of that would be as far as sunrises and sunsets over the course of the year in various parts of the country. m.mentalfloss.com/article.php?id=71521Pretty interesting! Best, Kathy

I hate daylight savings, I think it should be abolished. I wonder if we could put it on the ballot for next election

I hate it getting dark so early in the day, but don't mind getting up in the dark, so would prefer daylight savings year round.

These days it's still dark out at 7 am and dark again by 5 pm. I' a morning person and would prefer to get up with the sun, any time of the year. But if I wait for the sun right now, my kids would miss the bus!
It may be dark, but at least it's not snowing! Tomorrow is going to be 75 and rain. What a Christmas! Dinner won't be quite the same with everyone in t-shirts!

Today is bitterly cold here. Not supposed to make it above 30 but at least the sun is out!

The weather this morning was downpours and 59. Sun came out for like 5 minutes late this afternoon. Now the temp is dropping and the wind is howling. Supposed to be in the 20's by morning.
What's mother nature doing at your place today?

My clocks remain on "standard time" year 'round. I don't move my clocks just because some fool says we "save daylight" that way. Hogwash. The Amish don't change their clocks. Besides a few states and localities that don't bow to stupidity, lots of other individuals don't change their clocks, nor their sleep or work schedules. The fact is it's still mid day (noon) when the sun is directly overhead, regardless of what some politician or your I-phone or other "smart" device tells you. If you want to save daylight, arrange to go to work an hour or more early in the summer, or get up and hoe a row of vegies before work. There will be just as many hours of daylight in a given day regardless. It's just a matter of how you choose to use those hours.
