I've been working a project to give to my BFF for Christmas and I'm trying to come up with ideas on how to finish it. When I bought it the plan was to frame it, which I still may do, but what else could I do? This is assuming I get it done before Christmas, if not her birthday is in February. lol I don't know if it makes a difference with your ideas, but this friend understands the time and love put into handmade gifts and she'll appreciate it. Here's a picture of what it should look like when I finish...I got it from Amazon. Its finished dimensions are 9¼" x 15¼"  |

Can't explain it well but looks like if you added a big piece of material (color of her kitchen or office?) then incorporate to the piece of said material a way to hold a yearly calendar that would be a useful item for many years to come and would be seen by all... It is very nice and very thoughtful of you  |

Oh, you could add material to bottom and make pockets for note paper, pens, keys ect ect, you will then need to make a wall hanger at top so it can be hung on wall.... |

Oh gosh one more idea, ONLY if she is the type to hang things on fridge (me not so much) you could sew magnets on the back so she can hang from fridge.... |

I love the idea of the pockets because she's constantly losing everything. Lol. The calendar is a good idea too. Not sure about her fridge, it's already full.  Thanks! |

That's so pretty that I would want it to be preserved as an heirloom. If I were given something like that I'd mat it, frame it, and hang it in a prominent location. If your friend has a daughter, many years from now she could pass it along to her.

You could make a throw pillow out of it. The odd size would make it stand out on a couch or bed.
You could sew it onto the front of an apron, if your friend is one to wear them.
You could use it as a block on an otherwise simple block quilt.
You could find a photo album/scrap book with a plastic sleeve cover to slide it into. A virtuous woman momento album.
I used to do cross stitch and miss it so much (carpel tunnel has ruined hand work for me). I know how much time that has taken, but I am also someone who prefers something practical that I can use to something that needs to be displayed.

I'm going to look today and see if I can find a frame that will work with the size of the finished piece. I know that I could have it professional done with a custom frame, but I'm going to be cutting it close to Christmas so I don't think I'd have the time. kawaiitimes, I spent many hours online yesterday searching for ideas and came to the same conclusion about the size making a great pillow. I've never had a cross stitch pillow before, how would you clean that? She has kids and a dog in the house so I'm sure it would need to be cleaned eventually. |

To remove pet hair, you can pull a nylon over your vacuum hose to vacuum without sucking directly on the fibers. My grandma used those at-home dry cleaning kits on hers when it needed a wash, although she didn't have anyone else gooping it up so I don't know how often you can get away with washing it. Ive done a couple of cross stitch pieces on quilts, and I told their owners to hand wash those in the bath tub. It is extra work, for sure. I love that sdtuff though. |
