Most of the day yesterday and last night we had real rain squalls. The kind that blow in from the ocean and come down suddenly with rain drops so large and heavy that you can actually stagger when they hit you. They last a few minutes and suddenly stop as if someone turned off a tap. The sun may come out for a bit before it repeats. It's the epitome of exciting weather. Movie quality drama. It's been a couple of years since we've had them. Drought you know. But yesterday, as I tucked myself against the side of a building, peeking around the corner to judge when the squall would subside enough to sprint to my truck in the parking lot, it was like being young again. The wonderful challenge of exciting weather that feels more dangerous than it actually is. I love it. Tonight I'm listening to the sudden downpours hit the roof, knowing that I successfully timed all my outside activities to miss getting hit by the squalls. Sooner or later I will lose but what fun in the game.

I do get a pleasant adrenaline rush when I am in a safe place (not a car) in a quarter-size hail storm.
