DH and I decided to do a craft. We are epic failures. Cut up wood and make some snowman parts, paint them. So we do. After we are done, we have carrot noses (orange), buttons (pink, yellow, green, blue with black or white 'thread'), eyes (white with black middles), mouths (red). We decide once finished that, perhaps the paint (acrylic) may or may not be insoluble. We started to test it. We put some painted snowman parts in a little water. What is the worst that could happen? The parts of the snowman are placed on the snowman and the snow (water) dissolves....what can happen, really? Don't ask. Well, the red paint from the mouths can dissolve, we tested it a little..which means it looks like paint running off the mouth, like BLOOD. So any little kids we give them to, will have a snowman that has blood running down it's face and body!!!!!! We decided this is probably bad (in a good neighborhood) while it may be more appropriate in a bad neighborhood. We are a failure at crafts. I tell this story, this true story, so none of you suffer the same ignorant result. It's embarrassing. Crafts can be embarrassing if not done right. Only smart people can do crafts. I don't feel smart today.

a waterproof clear coat might fix them Yeah we just spent the last hour doing that. I was just amazed at our stupidity and seeing blood run down the mouths of the snowman.

the reason why I know all kinds of things not to do is because I have done most of them I figure I am only stupid if I do the same thing wrong again after I spotted the failure the first time

LOL We have all tried and had to learn from mistakes. My ex actually caught a piece of wood on fire using a router. Don't beat yourself up. Try Try Again...

thank you all for your ideas, silliness, and your support. DH did laugh about the router comment. You've all buoyed me up. And I think we saved some children from sub par crafts and unnecessary trauma.
"momma, momma, did you see the bleeding snowman?"

This is why it’s always best to test things first. Photo of snowmen, normal and bloody, please.

I know this is late, but I just saw it. Google "Pinterest fails"...believe me, you'll feel MUCH better and get some good laughs too! But like the others said, we've all had oopsies, just paint over it and move on, lol! No one will ever know, if you don't tell them...my little secret, ha!

feather, oh, thank you for such a good giggle! I think we've all had crafts (or something) that didn't quite turn out as originally planned. Yours was just funnier than most!

Now that the problem is kind of fixed with a top coat, I'd love to show you pictures but no one built snowmans yet (with our weather) but when they do I'll bring you pictures. The parts turned out pretty well and no one is bleeding. We may make snowman parts again, this time, learning our silly lessons.
