Haven't been able to let Dyfra play in the front pasture much because of all the grass. So today, I brought her out to play. She ran around once, and in true Icelandic fashion, stuck her face in the snow to her eyeballs eating grass. (rolling eyes) Was icy in places, walking down to the front pasture, she was ever so careful to match my walking pace, which was in snail mode, and any time she felt me slide. She would stop, so I could hold onto her. As much as a noodle she can be, she is wonderful with me. Really think she wanted me to get on, so we could go out. Maybe later today. And... this is also how not to do a bib cut..LOL.. did this 2 months ago, because she was way too hot... its not pretty. Another and... And, I don't know how a horse can get sooo dirty... with all this clean snow around. Sheesh....

Lovely pictures. I used to let my chronic laminitis horse eat as much as he wanted through the snow. The grass at that point is pretty low carb. Come spring though he got locked up. I let my two girls eat aroubd tge house the last coupke of days and, even though the grass looks lush, all I had to do was yell "dinner" and they came rushing in. I think that winter grass must taste like soda crackers- fine for a bored nibble but pretty tasteless.

Normally I would have no issues with Dyfra eating grass in the winter, normally its brown. But until this snow, we haven't had a winter here and the grass is growing, rich and very green. Find it really annoying, because winter is the only time I get a break from mowing.... normally.

We haven't had much snow at all. Either mud or frozen ruts. My white mule has frozen brown spots
