Some of you might remember Cathy Newton who used to post on the old HT board. She shared this quilt and with her permission I wanted to share it here. She called it "Stained Glass Windows". Great way to use up scraps:

Lizzie says, "It's amazing how many people like my quilt." This took HOURS upon HOURS to make, but I really like the way it turned out.

I think it is beautiful, and what a great way to tie in sooooooooooo many different colors, Do you know how many times I could change the paint on the walls in the bedroom and that quilt would still match Thanks for sharing!

Oh that quilt really excites my senses, Melissa!!! I love it and the way that she's manipulated the colours. I could look at it for hours and still see something new. She sure has put a huge amount of work into it. I wonder if she used the "Quilt As You Go" method of putting the blocks and sashing together? It's the perfect pattern for that. Brilliant way of using scraps. Thanks heaps for sharing the photo - I can see one in my future.

Beautiful!! I love the quilt-with all the colors, it would make a wonderful gift. It would match anything. A smaller version would be a nice baby gift.

She is truly a talented artist. Her use of color and her quilting skills always amaze me.
I'm struggling with my first 2 quilts. I started one and then decided I needed a different fabric which I've been unable to find so I've put it aside. My second one is proving to be a struggle for a beginner. I have good sewing skills, but my cutting needs a lot more effort for the precision needed for a quilt.

Hi ann , sorry about the struggle. Happens to all of us at some point, no matter how long or short a time we've been quilting. I've got a couple of rows (very small ones at that) to finish my big Judy Martin "Shakespeare in the Park" pattern quilt. The blocks are put together on the diagonal. Do you think I can work out which way those last rows go? Done the blocks and just can't seem to get my eye coordination working properly - even though I'm looking at the pattern. Duh! So you haven't got it on your own. Main thing is not to get discouraged - that's what UFOs are for (Unfinished objects) - you can always come back to them later. It would be a rare quilter that doesn't have something in the UFO category. What patterns are you doing? With the one that you're wanting to use a different fabric, is it a particular colour or pattern line you're after? Let us know what it is and how much you need of it and we might have it, or know where to get it.

Melissa, Thanks for sharing that beautiful quilt! I can see that I'd never have the patience or the ability to piece all those tiny scraps together! There must be a trick to it, maybe piecing them all together for each block then cutting to size. I don't know. Lovely, tho!

Yes, with a crazy quilt block, you usually do just let the pieces run randomly and square them up. My neighbor is an expert at making these so I have seen a lot of them done!

Really nice color coordination in that quilt; and very good way of using up scraps. I know it took a lot of patience too. Thanks for sharing. Being a novice at this, I have hope my cutting mistakes will at least find a home in a similar quilt.
