Lightning works different from someone using a battery. Lightning runs along the surface of water so would only zap fish very close to the surface.
Just wondering what types of fish lightning zaps and if the effects are different from stunning because the charge is so much more powerful.
Enquiring minds want to know.

We know that occasionally, that commercial aircraft get "zapped" by a lightening bolt.
I wonder if flying fish experience the same?

Well, lightning flows around the 'skin' of the plane and resumes its journey. Lightning flow in various directions on top of the water which is like its skin. Doesn't seem to be any consequence to deeper swimming fish.
Supposedly rain puts more oxygen in water and it knocks insects onto the water's surface, this along with the fact that the updraft under a thunderstorm creates lower air pressure suggest more fish feeding and especially more surface activity.
