So, I just found out that one of our favorite authors, Gene Logsdon, died in May. He had Lymphoma. Gene wrote for The Farm Journal for years then began living on a small Ohio farm, where he wrote numerous humorous, helpful and really practical homesteading-type books over the years . He also had a blog, the Contrary Farmer. We, for two, will greatly miss him. Anyone else on here a fan?

He was one of my favorite authors. His book "Two Acre Eden" was what influenced us into a homestead lifestyle over 30 years ago.

Emsmom, yes, TWO ACRE EDEN was a real favorite of our also. He always managed to write in an encouraging, but realistic and humorous way. We loved his books.

I've been reading his farming books, and essays on "The Contrary Farmer" for quite a while. He made his Ohio farm their home, and he made it pay. One smart likable guy! He is missed already here. He was in his 80's, and was still writing another blog essay right before his death. That was mentioned on the blog which will remain on-line. He had a great sense of humor. RIP.

I hadn't heard that he'd passed. Makes me sad to hear. I have a number of his books and love them.
