Any folks here ever build their own security alarm system?
I'm curious if there's anyone who ever put some generic parts together to make their own from scratch.
I've been thinking about doing it, but haven't read up enough on all the particular parts I'd need, after seeing some inexpensive keypads that have RFID fob sensors too for convenience's sake. If I did do this little project, I'd prefer to do a wired system as I dislike replacing batteries all the time, and to have some little advice from someone else who had put one together.

I have done it before I suggest all wired for the lack of hackability RFID is to easy to copy

Thanks, I had some questions, but self study answered most of them so far. I may have some more though later. At first I thought I'd be getting everything individually, siren, panel, etc. However I managed to find a small kit with panel and a couple sensors for just over 50 bucks, I'll have to buy some more sensors for it after it arrives and I have the manual to read, but I don't anticipate any difficulties with the basics.
I'm just curious at this stage if it'll be possible to add on an additional keypad later on, I'm guessing one of the connections on the panel might allow it.
