What say you? I have to keep a real close eye on her as she always has trouble delivering. Hoping the 3rd time is a charm and vet will not need to be called.

Hmmmm. How does the back of the bag look? The pronounced "high spine/tail" is one of my favorite 12 hour indicators. I can tell what what you have there.

With my particular set of 4 dairy cows, the bag tightens anywhere from 24-48 hours before birth. The best vantage is the very top of the bag below her tail. A week out, it will still have verticle wrinkles. When those fill out, the teats finally strut and I go on 12 watches.
My beef cows probably do the same, but I don't hover over their life like the dairy cows, so I dont have a good read on their udders.
I've heard of 'loosing the barrel shape' as a late indicator. Mine do that, but they usually find the barrel shape again. That starts at around 2 weeks out. I have one mystery breeding running around out there. That will be useful to see on her.
Nice looking girl you have there. I hope you get an easy delivery this time!

No vet needed...third time was a charm. I was so happy about that. Looks like a heifer to me.

I was on a Black Angus farm yesterday and would have liked to have seen a cow a few days before. She had twin bull calves two days before and their legs were as thick as my arms and feet bigger than my fist. The mother was big but I had a hard time imaging how there was room for those two calves. Farmer's wife said that they were the third set of twins already this year and the other two were also bull calves.
