These creatures may hold some answers for human longevity. The Greenland is a large shark of the family Sumo wrestler ("sleeper sharks"). Japanese and these sharks have somewhat similar diets and live in similar latitudes. Japanese live longer than most. The meat can be eaten if it is boiled in several changes of water or dried or fermented for several months to produce kæstur hákarl. Then the meat is buried for 6 to 8 weeks. The meat is then dug up and hung up in strips to dry for several more months. It is considered a delicacy in Iceland. Chef Anthony Bourdain described kæstur hákarl as "the single worst, most disgusting and terrible tasting thing" he has ever eaten en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greenland_shark
