We have family coming today who are interested in our homesteading lifestyle. One of the girls is married to an Army Vet with PTSD. I had told her about this episode of Growing a Greener World. This is a great show. I thought I would post a link to the video if anyone is interested.... www.growingagreenerworld.com/episode308/

I don't know if it is true, but I have always heard that the Cherokee solution to mental health issues was to spend the day weeding the garden. Gave you time to think, while still doing something productive.
I am not entirely sure that my family didn't make up the saying to get me to spend more time weeding the garden, but I did always feel less angry after a few hours pulling weeds. Perhaps the logic works on PTSD as well as angry teenagers.

AD in WNC, I reckon there's a lot to that 'solution'. When things start to swamp me, a few hours out in the fresh air (and hopefully sun) pulling weeds and pootling round in the vege garden puts everything back into perspective. Just as I rearrange the garden, it rearranges my mind and restores order.
