Last Monday DH and I finalized our divorce. I’ve been living in the retirement house, he’s been living in the big house, which is close to his work. I get the big house, he gets the retirement house, but I had told him that he could live there until December (retires in January) so he wouldn’t have the long commute. Agreed upon.
After court, he tells me that he wants to move NOW. Okay, so I figure a couple of weeks at least to get stuff moved back and forth, then he’ll slow down and it won’t happen for a month, maybe longer. Nope. I’m now permanent in the big house. So, this week, instead of finishing painting and all that, I’m settling myself in. I decided I needed to make a cozy place before plunging in again getting the house ready for sale. I’ve got the “office” with my computer instead of his and I’m going to set it up with the TV and a rocking chair as well. It’s already painted with new molding, I just have to switch out the shades. Ordered a cheap TV last night. This way, I can really clean the living room/dining room and keep it tidy. I’m moving my clothes/closet to his old music room (now a bedroom) so I’ll be able to work in the bedroom and closets (his and her walk in closets). And so on.
I did mention to him that I can’t move my sewing room from the retirement house to this house until the garage is cleaned out of all his garage/tools/building stuff. I anticipate that he won’t have things moved out of the garage until December. Basically, I can’t clean out my sewing room in the big house (which somehow became the junk room) until I have space in the garage. Just not going to even try.
In the meantime, I’ll be working on “me” space. Knowing his hidden agenda means that I can go with the flow. If he surprises me and clears it all out next weekend, no problem. Now, I get to clean up after him.
Deep breath, let it all out. Deep breath.
