For the second time in as many months, the community of Dayton, Texas, is being put on the map for record-setting alligator captures. In late September, bow hunter Lee Sanford of Tarkington killed a massive 13-foot, 8.5 inch alligator on Day Lake south of Dayton. On Wednesday, Gary Saurage and Arlie Hammonds, co-owners of Gator Country in Beaumont, and college interns, Johnny Korpela and Daniel Navarro, captured another 13-foot, 8-inch alligator from Champion Lake in the Trinity River National Wildlife Refuge, off of FM 1409 south of Dayton. This time, the gator was taken alive. www.chron.com/neighborhood/dayton/article/Dayton-gator-could-be-biggest-ever-captured-in-9967334.php

I really like those cowboy boots made of exotic animal skins, I once had a pair made of Mottled Houdan (whatever that is). But they were light and fit like a glove, the guy said they were all the rage out west.
Big gators are getting to be the norm around here though, and I think its that they have no predators. Limited hunting will be a thing of the past when more lives are taken around those swimming holes at the creeks. I know that I always slip down to the creek and survey the scene before going in and the firepower is close by when canoeing. There is nothing quite like meandering down a quiet stretch of river and finding a big gator approaching from the rear.

Like it was reported, answer is to eat more gator. Make it so common that people will say that chicken tastes like gator. Bet that you guys don't have some in your freezer like I do. Believe it or not, our local HyVee has it now and then. Tastes like a cross between a snapping turtle and a chicken!

Yep, gator tail, crawfish, and frog legs are some wild game I like to keep on hand. All from the supermarket of course.
