Anyone basket weave tomatoes to keep them up off the ground? If so, what are the pros and cons.

No. We just put large cages around them and have good luck that way. Reuse the cages year after year.

I have used cages but usually the plant ends up growing large enough and we get a wind and the whole mess goes over. To prevent that you add a stake to the cage and fasten the cage to the stake and repeat 50 times. I am just looking for a simpler better way.

The OCD in me loves this! This would totally eliminate my need for those dang cages. I've seen this before from afar but didn't realize how effective it could be. (you know--you see someone just has a "stick" in the ground with what appears to be their plants tied to it. Have never really seen the how-to/why of the weave.) I have a lot of limbs I can use in lieu of the grade stakes...oh, this is definitely on my idea list!

I have a lot of fruit spoil on the ground so if this works maybe I could plant a lot less tomatoes and save the space and weeding.

Interesting concept ... I don't usually plant my tomatoes so close together, but I may give it a try next year.

Huh, I do this and didn't know it had a name. I have 3 cattle panels secured by 8' rebar. I plant the tomatoes, alternating the sides of the rebar; right, left, right, left, etc. Then I weave baling twine around the tomatoes and through the cattle panels. Reweave as the plants grow taller. Flat cattle panels and rebar are super easy to put up, take down and store.
