Have any of you fed regular rice bran? My vet said to try Stablized rice bran but everyone seems to be out of it at the moment. I got a bag of regular rice bran and Tessie has been eating it without issue.
Do you think that in the middle of winter and keeping stored well it coukd be likely to go rancid in the three weeks it would take the girls to eat it up? Of course, I don't know how long it's been since it was manufactured?

The one that goes rancid really fast if flax. If it was me and mine, and the rice bran looked good, smelled good, and tasted good (yes, I always taste my horses' food, there are surprises there sometimes), then I would feed it. It should have a nutty, mildly sweet flavor. And you can spit when you're done, if you like.

I think if Tessie is eating it well, you should be fine. 3 weeks isn't long to keep, unless it was old when purchased. I do always watch manufacture dates on my feed and supplements, you never know how long things can sit in the back on a pallet!
