I know next to nothing about ducks. I bought some young ones last March for my mother "goose" and she did a fine job raising them. It turned out I have 4 Pekin ducks (3 males and 1 female) and two Runners (male and female). They are 10 months old now.
All are doing well except the female runner. I saw her today having a hard time walking though it did not appear there was anything wrong with her legs. She was acting as though her butt was too heavy. She was also gently flapping her wings as she sat on the ground. When she did walk, she dragged her behind.
I caught her and checked her over. I could not find anything broken nor any parasite on her. Since she couldn't keep up with the others, I put her in the brooder house where she could eat/drink without having to move far.
I googled but could not find any information about such behavior. I'm hoping someone in here can solve this duck dilemma. Any similar experiences??

I don't know anything about ducks, but I hope someone is able to help you, and that she recovers completely.

After putting that female Runner in with the young guineas, it took only a little over 24 hours before she was walking just fine and acting quite healthy. This morning I managed to get the female Pekin in there with her. Will leave them both together in that brooding pen until I've slaughtered the four (2 male Pekins, 1 male goose and 1 female goose). Then will let these two females out to join their mates. (Oh yes I do know which mates they have each chosen. )

Maura have no idea what was wrong. I'm thinking she was simply tired from having to deal with too many males...ROFL You know what I mean? ROFL (Have not found any egg in there and she's been in that pen for quite a few days now.)
