Mine find new and inventive ways to torture themselves and me as well. If there isn't a horse limping, foundering, bleeding, or colicking here, I feel like something is wrong!
Right now I have two pony mares in bad hoof condition. Both had horrible overgrown hooves, which caused horrible, untreated founders in both. The older pony mare, Junie, is slowly recovering. She is an adorable black and white, 22 year old girl. We had to cut her front flexor tendons to give her some relief long enough to recover. It was a last resort, but seems to have helped a lot. I am guarded on her recovery. The other pony is a small girl, 6 years old and had never had hoof care. She had joker hooves, one curled up and back past her leg it was so long. She is at the vet right now, I have no idea if we can save her. She literally stood or layed in one spot for over a year before help came. Her muscle tone is non-existent, so much that her hip pivot outward every step she takes. It will take months of rehab to get enough muscle tone to support her joints. But she is a lovely, sweet little girl and we will do our best for her.
Along with those two pony girls, I have 4 new full size horses that came in, as well as one feisty little mini pony guy that we gelded the day I got him. He is 32 inches tall and a real sweetheart...if you can catch him. He came with his 9 year old mini mare momma, and she is also really great...if you can catch her!! I will be placing them all when they are ready. Until then, let the games begin!

It is wonderful they found you Connor. If anyone can get them healthy again, its you!!!
I had to send Dyfra way north, because her allergies got so bad, 3 meds were barely keeping it under control. That was painful, but I had to do what was best for her.
Still have Stjarna, but other than caring for her, we haven't done much together. Haven't felt up to riding for about a year, which is saying something. Never thought I would see the day, when I felt so bad, I didn't want to ride.
Katie is still a little snot, good some days, others well.....
And my wee heart horse Maggie. Still working on her getting better. Try to either take her for a short hand walk or I put her grazing muzzle on, with gorilla tape over the bottom hole and she can putter with the sheep and Katie for a few hours. She does much better if I can make sure she walks for awhile. Maggie is not perfect but she is feeling well enough to get into things. LOL

Tessie and Hollie both had their vaccinations and both had a float. Poor Tessie has hypercementosis.
Both had reactions to their shots. Tessie always had but giving her a Bute before the shot prevented it. This year she was fine til the next afternoon then she seized up all over. I ended up giving her Banamine.
I'm going to ask the vet if he changed shot brand orsomething because this reaction was far worse than I've ever seen.

If I remember right, they use a unique, oily adjuvant that is irritating to the tissues, and that can make them sore as the dickens. If I can use Merial or some other company instead, I will.
My horses aren't doing a darn thing except shedding. Go figure though, they still look like goats.
