It has taken me two days to clean out my closet. I pulled everything out, was surprised at some of what I found, put things away, am washing a small box of fleece I found in there. Also sorting clothes. I pulled out a portable closet and emptied it. Took down the two rods. The interior of my walk in closet is now painted. I just have to wash the window and paint around it and I can put it all back. Whew!
The "sewing room" is empty. Had someone come in and paint the concrete floor, now I have to paint the walls. I was going to put all the sewing machines in storage, but I think they may look nice on the counter instead. This is the last room I have to paint, plus the bathroom adjacent to it.
Replaced two of the outside lights, on either side of the French Doors. Replaced another overhead light in the "office".
80% of the office/bedroom boxes and bins have been moved to a storage unit. The storage unit is the one room that is all tidy and neat.

That's great, Maura! I spent a day this past week straightening the pantry. This is the smallest bedroom in my house and has been converted into food and prep item storage. I also have a lot of spare clothes hanging in half of the closet in there. I grabbed a bunch of the clothes that had been a little to a lot too small and tried them on. Was thrilled to find a couple pair of pants, some shirts and a few dresses that now fit well! There were also clothes the next size down that I put back to be tried on again in about 10 lbs time. 😉 I'm looking at all my closets with an eye towards adding an additional shelf above the existing one. I think I can add some storage for things like suitcases, sleeping bags, and spare bedding and pillows. I've also been working on cleaning up my garden and the area behind my barn. Between trees falling on my shed, limbs landing in the garden, and scrap lumber that used to be stacked, but has become strewn all over the ground, I have a ton of wood to pick up and get under cover so it can dry. It's been such a wet winter and spring that everything is soggy, and it's not fun to pick up wet, heavy, soggy wood. But, I just need to devote an hour a day, rain or shine, to picking up and packing it all to the barn. The sheer amount of work that needs done is overwhelming, but if I can chip away at it an hour at a time, I can eventually get it all done.

You both inspire me. Thanks for posting.
I, too, have been cleaning up outside. This year I am home more and I don't dread garden/yard work because it's out of control. We have been trimming trees, trellises and bushes that have not been trimmed in three years (about the time I started my long, long commute) So much harder (like cleaning) when things get out of hand.
Put the cuttings on a pile where our eventual fire pit will go.

Maura, manygoatsnmore, Anyone else working on getting rid of stuff? I have rugs that will never be used, my children dont want. So this weekend, my goal is to get these rugs out of the attic and basement. You know, I was looking for popsicle sticks for a project and you know what? I must have gotten rid of them. Horrors! My goal is to plant all the old seeds. Manygoats: didn't you experiment by just throwing them out there and transplanting if they came up?

DH ex came by this afternoon to pick up a few things. I got him to take a few more things. He'll be back and I'll have a few more things for him to take to his house. Why should I have to deal with all of his 'stuff'?
The room with all the bins is almost empty now. Just gotta sort out some odds and ends. One thing I don't understand is why I have so many lids, yet have bins that are missing lids. *sigh*

Congrats, Maura! I will pat myself on the back today for taking two large shopping bag worth of stuff to goodwill! I found a donation truck near my office, so I want to take something each week! I want to start with room-sized rugs that I kept for children's eventual apartments ( they don't want) and the basement floor ( can't do as the dogs sometimes stay down there and cannot be trusted--easier to clean up the cement floor. Anyway! I am so excited!!

But, only focus on one this week. After a few months, you will have them decluttered them all and the detailed cleaning will be a breeze. Flybabies: Your task is to declutter this area. Spend 15 minutes a day this week doing something, anything, in this room. It did not get dirty in a week and it will not get clean in a week, but you will be making head-way. It is a trend! Get in the habit of decluttering in small segments of time. Decide what time of day you are going to tackle this little job, set a timer for 15 minutes, and just do it. See www.flylady.net/c/lp.php for more information!
