It is really dry in Blanco County. Spring, our rainy season, has so far brought less than two inches of rain. I've been trying to keep many things alive, but some are still starting to die. It is going to get much worse quickly. And I don't even want to think about the likelihood of wildfires. Just about daily the Austin TV weather people predict exaggerated percentages of upcoming rains and show models bringing rain across our parched area right up to the predicted day. Then there is no rain. The next weathercast the meteorologists tell us "we're out of the woods" on severe weather as though they somehow brought us safely through the Red Sea. They immediately start predicting exaggerated rain chances for a few days later. Same ole, same ole.... I had to stop watching the news because it was too upsetting. Now I've had to stop watching the weather. www.youtube.com/watch?v=055wFyO6gag

I like to check the weather site every morning to see when there will be drier weather for de-pooping and feeding the animals. It become less of an obsession come the long dry stretches of summer.
So basically all my animals are fed according to predictions all winter. Sometimes an hour earlier. Sometimes an hour later.

Yeah, we've gotten tired of the weather forecast always being wrong. Now hubby says if I want to know what the weather will be, he'll let me know the following day when it's over!
A few years ago we vacationed in New Hampshire and brought home a $3.00 weather stick. I didn't believe it would work, but for $3, I wasn't going to argue with hubby when he bought it. We hung it on the side of the house, and this stick is never wrong! If the stick is straight up, there will be no rain for 24 hours, no matter what the weatherman says. And if the stick points down, it is going to rain even if the skies are clear and sunny.
I don't know why/how it works, but I know it does work. That is the only weather forecaster I depend on anymore!

Very cool, a weather stick! The weathermen don't seem to be accurate much. I'd depend on a weather stick with you countrymom22, I'm going to have to look that up!

A number of years ago I saw an interview with a local weatherman who had retired. He said that no matter what fancy tools they have, they can only truly be accurate about weather predictions about 3 - 4 hours before the event. I have taken that to heart and now take all weather forecasts with a grain of salt.

I agree with that princessferf. Now I feel better knowing the weather people have admitted that! I'm not crazy after all!~ It's incredibly hot and humid here today, and the weather powers that be were calling for showers but the weather stick says no. Time will tell!
