My chives are beautiful and flowering. Time to make green goddess dressing.
Put in a blender: 1 cup of buttermilk (or substitute sour cream or thick yogurt) 1 and 1/3 cup mayonnaise 1/3 cup of chives or a good handful 2 Tablespoons of chopped garlic 1 Tablespoon lemon juice fresh ground white pepper salt to taste 2 Tablespoons anchovy paste or 2 anchovies (optional) (additions you may like to add, parsley, basil, tarragon)
Blend and store in the refrigerator.

Thanks for this recipe. I have never had it or known what was in it. I love anchovies. Chives are really cheap at my grocery this week. How long does it stay in the fridge? can you freeze it? Thanks, again.

Thanks. I don't know if it would freeze well as mayonnaise usually doesn't freeze well. I've never tried. I keep it in the refrigerator for about 2 weeks, but it doesn't last long as we use it for salads, to dip raw vegetables, to dip oven fried potatoes. I keep it in a jug near the front of the refrigerator so it doesn't get lost in the back.

I made this recipe on the weekend using a bunch of the chives I have growing in my garden. It's really good - we've been eating it with celery, carrots, cucumber and tomato wedges. I grew up eating french fries with mayonnaise instead of ketchup or vinegar so I tried the dressing with them too. It was a really nice change. I didn't add other herbs as suggested because I wanted to see what the basic flavor was but I think I'll add thyme next time or possibly oregano. Thank you for sharing.
