Is there a way to remove tea and coffee stains from mugs and cups using the dishwasher? I use a name brand capsule. I end up putting the china in the sink in a mild bleach solution and scrub the stains away. If I didn't have to, I'd rather not

Before washing, soak. Fill the cups with water and let them sit. I won't even put them in a dishwasher, if they soak it's easy to wash them. In fact, if you drink your tea or coffee fast enough and don't let the cups sit and dry, they wash up fine without soaking. The trick is to get them washed before the beverage dries.
My grandmother, born about 1906, was from Scotland. She said putting cream in the tea kept the tea from staining your teeth or the cups. Of course, they washed the cups right away.

You put the milk in first.. that's meant to stop it staining the cup. though I doubt it does much to be honest.

A wet rag and baking soda usually does it.

Grandma put the milk/cream in first to keep the bone china from breaking when the tea was poured in. I know everyone needs this info on their bone china.
