I have a young Bourbon Red hen and a tom, and am proud to announce that my hen is setting!!!
This way I won't have to raise them separately and house them separately.
Or eat either one of the parents for Thanksgiving.

w00t! Congratulations!
Our turkey hen laid her eggs in the 'scovy nest. One or both of them destroyed the nest some time between morning and evening chores. Stooopid birds.

Oh no! Any chance they'll keep laying and get down to business?

I think so. They just have to stop trying to share the same nest. Silly birds!

That is so much fun! Congrats. Our turkey hens all used to go out and find themselves some tall grass or weeds. Freddy, the tom, was not invited. We sold a lot of turkey babies.

I'm expecting some chicks starting tomorrow. Little Red went broody three weeks ago tomorrow.

I was walking through the woods yesterday and ran up onto a wild turkey hen setting. Haven't seen any little ones yet. Last year the first ones I saw was April 9th. They been out in the pasture and the Toms have been strutting for weeks....James

We had one, maybe 2, hens laying right now. We've been collecting the eggs so they won't get damaged until one of them decides to set, then we'll tuck these under her
