I had my first black bean fiesta burger today. I purchased the Morning Star patties. They are great. I would like to make my own from scratch . Anyone have a good recipe? I am on a weight loss plan. I can have all veggies, beans, corn I want.

I tried making these burgers once. Really didn't like texture. Nothing like the bought ones.

Numb makes really good veggie burgers! I'll have to see if I can get him to post his recipe ... after he's done fixing his mom's frozen sewer line!

I've never learned to make a good veggie burger, ever. It seems to be so elusive, how to get the texture right, have it stick together, with the right seasoning, looking edible. I'm going to watch this thread to see if there is a recipe that works for anyone.
I've seen recipes that use gluten or even fake meat, to hold the texture together, others use mashed beans for some of the glue. I don't expect a veggie burger to actually look or taste like meat.

I'd love Numb's recipe, too, if he's willing to share - as well as any others that people particularly like. I don't expect veggie burgers to taste like meat either, but something with good flavour would be terrific. A friend gave me some commercial veggie sausage rolls she bought a while ago for lunch and they were absolutely scrummy. They had a touch of curry in them.
DH can't get enough of my meat burger patty recipe but I'm keen to explore other options.

I'm still waiting on Numb's recipe but I ran across this recommended website with good reviews and it had about 6 different veggie burgers. Looks interesting but I haven't made any of them. www.hummusapien.com/zesty-sweet-potato-black-bean-burgers/I also wanted to make low carb version of chili with black or regular soybeans, for myself. We couldn't find a local source for soy beans. Where could they be?
