I hope this is ok to put here. I just got my first angora rabbit tonight. She is so sweet! She is a four month old REW German angora. Anyway, I was able to find a dog slicker brush to brush her with but I can't seem to find a comb to comb out mats. Any suggestions? I'm completely new at this and I want to do it right. Thanks.

Of course it is okay!! I don't know if I can help any but I'll give you the little bit of knowledge of angora rabbits that I have as it pertains to fiber .... I had a couple of German Angoras for less than a year ACHOO .. I was allergic to them .... CA & NZ rabbits I was fine with bit Angora made me not only sneeze but I broke out in hives and had trouble breathing when I spun from them sitting in my lap or spun the fiber I harvested from them. I had to look up what REW was (ruby-eyed white)?? If you have mats, you may want to clip her/him to remove the mats then start fresh by combing frequently to collect the fur. Any mats aren't gong to be suitable for spinning, so you might as well get rid of them now. You may be able to get more infor on rabbits from the HF Rabbit subforum
Are you a spinner?? If so, get your bunny used to sitting quietly in your lap so you can teach him/her to behave as you spin off their back.

one of these days, I am GETTING me some rabbits!!!! I bought a bunch of angora to spin this past weekend and can hardly wait.
I have no experience in rabbit grooming but lots in dog grooming. A tiny small toothed dog comb would work out the mats.

A coat rake would be a very useful tool, especially when they are blowing their coats. For combing and detangling I actually used a wide metal brush made for dogs. It works very well and they like how it feels.

Thank you all for helping me. I just ordered a coat rake off of amazon. I didn't know what they were called. Thanks.
