Since we were talking about cross stitch on the quilting thread and I had to run to Walmart I thought I would just look and see what they had in the way of cross stitch kits. After much debate because I didn't want to get one that wouldn't be used, I settled on these pretty bookmarks that I'm thinking will make a nice Mother's Day gift for my mom. This is the hoop that I used when I was little and practically lived with my granny. I don't remember who wrote my name inside, but I do remember that it had to be done so that we wouldn't mix up our hoops.

I made this for my daughter a few years ago. I believe it took me about 2 years off and on. I go in spurts. LOL My daughter had some of the pictures I made her over the years framed. I made this one for my SIL. Although I have made many cross stitch projects over the years, these are all I have pictures of, too many computer changes and different cameras. LOL

Those are beautiful! I started to grab a lap quilt, but since it's been awhile I figured I'd better start small. lol Two hours later and I'm finally ready to begin. I need to find a better way to organize my floss, but for now snack baggies will have to work.

Beautiful, beautiful x-stitches! I'm working on a sampler I started about 12 years ago. It's not an intricate one but I had started it to have something to do while my then 5yo was at practice. He moved on to other things and it got set aside. Then we moved and then moved again. Came across it a few months ago and decided it needed to be finished.

These counted cross stitch pictures/projects are beautiful! I do other needle work, but never got started on the counted cross stitching. Those are wonderful gifts you have given to your families. I'm sure they will become cherished heirlooms. I know I appreciate the projects my mother made for me before she died.

I started a prayer for my DGS before he was born, 26 years ago. Life got in the way and I decided to finish it before his DD was born. Now I have arthritis in my hands--anyway, I asked my DD to finish it. She does beautiful work! Good thing I have an embroidery machine!

I have a computer program that can make a counted cross stitch chart from a photo, or art work. It is called PC Stitch if someone wants buy a version. I also do custom charts for people from their photo, or artwork.

I used to do a lot of counted cross stitch. Back in 4-H, I got many awards at the Fair with my counted cross stitch projects, including stitching on sweatshirts using waste canvas (and boy, do those hold up; some of my barn clothes I currently wear are 20 yo cross-stitched sweatshirts!). Currently, I'm working on a huge cross stitch project; on the back of a zip-up hoodie for my dd. The design was intended as a picture for a wall, but (always the overachiever) I decided to put it on a sweatshirt instead. Takes up the entire back of an adult large-sized hoodie.

DD made me one with a lighthouse. Very pretty. I like embroidery better myself, Sweetie always has something going, pillow cases, tea towels or quilt blocks. I just have to sit back and marvel. Sweetie had me do some cross stitch as therapy for my hand, was tough as I am left handed but can't hold a needle, hard enough to hold the work and sew right handed....James

Its been a long time since I've done counted cross stitch. It used to be a favorite craft when I was a teen. It was nothing to find my best friend and I with our bare legs dangling from the upper limbs of the big old sycamore tree in front of her house. You could get quite comfortable in that big old tree, leaning against the trunk just stitching away.
You ladies do some beautiful work!

Beautiful. Here is one I did years ago. I just started working on "Maggie the Messmaker". I will get a lifetime achievement award when it is done. It will take F O R E V E R!!! This one below is the words to the hymn "Standing on the Promises". (It's the only one I have a pic of. I will have to dig out some more.)

Ladies, all of your cross-stitch projects are beautiful! I used to cross-stitch until I developed cataracts and had to give it up. My Mother taught me to embroider when I was a child, and I've always loved it,too. I hope to get back to doing both someday.

I'm going to have to rethink the bookmarks as a Mother's Day gift since I've only managed to finished January. Maybe I can give them to her for her birthday in December. lol Or I can do a bookmark a month, which means I should probably get started on May. Lots of little mistakes in this first one, but still happy with it...

I love doing counted cross stitch but I haven't done any in a really long time. I might have to get it back out!

I love doing counted cross stitch but I haven't done any in a really long time. I might have to get it back out! Me, either. Then a friend roped me into doing this big project with her....with a little prodding from my Hubs. For what I paid for the kit, it is now a commitment! LOL
