Our loca; WalMart was actually out of wide-mouth quarts today. Didn't need any but always watch to see what's moving. Also were sold out on 2-quart jars. Big end cap display had regular quarts for $8.49 a case pf 12.

Using the Walmart Grocery app (not the regular Walmart app), 4-count Blue pint Mason jars are listed at $0.90. Max 6 in order. Minimum order of $30 using the app. 24 pint jars for $5.40 isn't bad.

That's a great price but it seems like it might be a glitch in using the walmart grocery app. I'd still try it and see if you can get that!

Ken, I've found glitches with ridiculous low prices on Amazon (and I don't have the walmart app) but half the time, the vendor writes, 'we made a mistake' and then the order gets cancelled, so there's that too.

I would not be surprised if the blue pints are being sold for some impossible low price as nobody seems to be buying them. Those in our local store have just been gathering dust. low app price may reflect on what it costs Ball to make them.

First time using the grocery pickup thing.
Pretty slick. Pulled up to the designated pickup area and the guy was standing out there waiting for me with the items I ordered. He was courteous and explained that the bag of cedar shavings was the last one and that he had taped up a small hole in it and that it might have lost a little bit of shavings and that I could remove that item from my order if I didn't want it. He was willing to load the stuff into my car for me but I am still able-bodied and prefer to load it myself.
Got 6 boxes of 4-count blue pint jars. Nice.
Overall, a good and easy experience. I don't normally shop for groceries at Walmart, but I do get other things (like the shavings). I will probably just go in the store like I normally do though (unless there happens to be another really good priced online/app item I need).

Went to Aldi this weekend - had 12 Ball quart jars for $7.99! Didn't need any, but boy was I tempted. Better check your local Aldi's if you have one!

In wiich case, $6.55 may also be a glitch. You can also find them for $2.49!

We got ours today, none broken! They aren't in the store display type boxes, but in regular cardboard cartons with dividers. No markings or advertising on the outside. A sturdier way to ship them it seems. I wonder if these aren't packed for export, which would possibly explain the lower price.

A sturdier way to ship them it seems. I wonder if these aren't packed for export, which would possibly explain the lower price. what you are looking at is why store brand products are the better value for lower cost. Stores go to manufacturers already knowing what it costs to produce something. Store asks for bottom line if everything but the product is supplied by the store. Even if the manufacturer breaks even, his equipment and workers are kept busy. It appears that WalMart went to Jarden and knew what it cost to make the jars and to give WalMart a bottom-line figure for those jars "off the line".. Jarden may have given a price of 20¢ a jar. Add another 5¢ for "Plain Jane" packaging and 4¢ for transportation and WalMart makes 1¢. When one is talking millions of jars, it's a big profit from just one product. Didn't get a chance to stop at WalMart today so don't know what's been restocked. Ours does not havee the on-line grocery shopping yet. This is peak canning time so everything is moving fast. Martin

We have jars! So, they substituted jars because the blue one's were all out. Instead we have these. These are 8 sided regular mouth sharing jars (have a place to put a ribbon). I love them!
Plus since we are a first time customer AND had a substitution in the order, 2- $10 coupon on $50 through grocery pick up. A Walmart bag, individual servings of mac and cheese, oatmeal, cheese-its, snack-pac pudding, chicken instant lunch, and chewy Quaker granola bar. And seven decorated pages of 'back to school' school lunch notes, 6 notes/page to send love notes in your child's lunch.

Tallpines, you got a deal! About 95% of my jars are standard sized pints, half pints, and quarts. I have some squat (low and fat) half pints and also some 4 oz jars (they are so small) that we added this year. About those squat (low and fat) pints, they would make nice gifts too. One of the things I see people use pints for, are the soaked refrigerated oatmeal/fruit/nuts breakfasts, and the salad in a jar--but the regular pints are a little tall to get your spoon or fork in there all the way to the bottom. The shorter ones would be great for eating out of, salads or breakfasts. When the guys were deer hunting I sent along pudding/parfaits/fruit/cheese cake, in jars, easy to store in the cooler (even if the cooler has water in it). Short pints are the perfect size for a baked meal, like beef stew, or a casserole, and they can be heated in a kettle of water on a fire or camp stove. DH has facebook 'canning and preserving with love', and that crowd went crazy for the good deal on cans on the walmart grocery app. In some parts of the country there were smooth sided qts for $3.00 per dozen. When the sales to the blue jars and the quarts ran out, many of the people received substitutions, but, there were stores that didn't substitute anything at all. There were some shoppers that used the grocery app, to get the regular walmart cashier (in the walk in walmart) to match the price, and it worked but it won't work at every walmart. Much of getting that deal went to chance.
