I'm making the acorn squash, 3 halves with brown sugar (sugar with a little molasses), a pinch of salt, and butter, and 1 with a little butter and salt.
For stroganoff, I'm making a big pot of mushrooms (2 lbs) and browning them in oil, then onions (1 lb) and browning them a little too. Half I put in one pot and half in another (meat or no meat). These get seasoned with salt and pepper and garlic. Broth is added to the 'no meat pot'. Two cans of canned venison (2-16 oz jars) drained into the 'meat' pot. Everything gets hot, then add the venison (which is already cooked) to the 'meat' pot. After everything is hot, and egg noodles are drained, then add sour cream to both pots. Serve it up. DH asked for this last night. I hope he likes it.

That meal sounds delicious, I'm sure he will love it If I don't have cheese or canning on my agenda I'll sometimes ask him what he would like me to make. When I asked him for 4 -8oz packages of mushrooms on sale at aldi's, he bought 9. After this, the rest of the mushrooms go to cream of mushroom soup. It's a nice change from meat/spaghetti sauce over spaghetti.
