Feeling a bit down, I decided to perk myself up with a couple pieces of cast iron....
My daily go-to skillets are a 10" Lodge and a same size by a company called 'Taiwan'..... Actually the Taiwan works great and is light weight so is my preferred pan, especially since my (then) wife had tossed it out and I restored it from a rusty mess.
But since I do nearly all my own cooking and much prefer cast iron I went with two new pieces of heirloom stuff. An Erie 8" skillet and a Wagner waffle iron. Truth be told I don't actually like waffles much but I can make french toast or fried oatmeal in this as well so said what the heck and went for it. Maybe slice some taters thin, throw some butter in there and make something resembling a flat homefry sort of thing...
And they look cool....

Erie cast iron is the BEST. I always check the backs of skillets for "GRISWOLD". It is legendary in my region, and for good reason

From one of my fave yooztoobz channels...At about the 7:38 mark he starts talking about it:
I thought something like this done in a waffle press would be great... also french toast etc...

Just got around to watching the video BrewDaddy... I know what I'm fixing for DH's breakfast tomorrow morning - he's gonna love it! It will also be nice to have it in the fridge for him during the week when he is making breakfast for himself... ~Mari
