Lillian was flinging some food over her shoulder the other night and clipped Numb in the side of the face with her nose. (I saw his headlamp go flying and wondered, "WT...?")
He has a shiner now, poor guy.
Bad cow! Very bad cow!

Man, that must have hurt! After helping our farmer friend out on his dairy farm and getting up close and personal with those lovely large ladies, I have quite the respect as far as how they can sometimes "accidentally" hurt you. And purposefully as well - our farmer friend got kicked in the knee day before yesterday while putting bales in their feeder. Reminds me... years ago he had a little steer that was so tame and always wanted to "play" with me. But once he got to about 300 lbs or so and almost knocked me down one day - we had a fence between us most of the time after that! Has Numb told anyone yet that you did that to him?? ~Mari

Who knew the giant squishy nose on an angus cows 100 pound head could be like being punched by boxing glove with a 200# boxer behind it.
Lilly is a very good old cow, shes the only one who will lie down and let me trim and doctor her feet. If she's fed up enough with the job she will keel over like a beached whale and put all 4 out for me.
Don't be in the wrong place in the dark when a fat girl is eating.

Good advice in any case! But I'll try not to crush you .... Oh my gosh... It's 4 something in the morning and I just read that and started laughing... In the meantime my little kitten just ran over to my side of the couch and gave me a gentle swat to my face! I'm thinking - "Hey!! I own the place and if I want to laugh out loud at 4 something in the morning - I will! Besides - in an hour or so you will be on your quest to sleep half of the day away!" I'm feeling punchy... ~Mari

Oh it is losing its color already, although there is still some swelling over the top of his eye socket. Perhaps I could substitute a picture of one of the other impressive shiners he's gotten over the years? I think the worst one was when a bungee cord snapped back and caught him in the face. And there have been numerous trips to the eye doc to remove foreign particles from his eyes ... sigh. He's a dangerous man!

Thanks for the laugh!

Sorry about numb, we must remember that any gentle animal can hurt you and we need to remember that when dealing with any animal.
