We found out through turning on the microwave, that it interfered with our wireless computer connection to our tvs and computers. At first we didn't believe it but it is consistent. Any time the microwave is full on, full power, for even 1 minute, the computers and tvs cannot get a an internet connection. The microwave is quite old, so that might have something do with it.
We also found that our cell phones even if they are off, interfere with metal detectors getting signals. So they have to be turned off and left in the car while metal detecting. I never would have thought of it but that is consistently an issue, so they are off when metal detecting.
Are we the only ones with these issues? I'm not wearing foil on my head.

Microwaves and routers work on very similar wavelengths (the most common for wifi is 2.412 GHz to 2.472 GHz the microwave will say somewhere on it but it probably around ~2.450 GHz. microwaves should be well enough shielded not to interfere but it's possible your microwaves shielding has been damaged or just isn't up to it anymore. Two options, replace the microwave or change the router and all things on it to 5k. if all your stuff is new it may have this option already and all you have to do it switch it over. Probably still easier to replace the microwave.
As the the phones, no idea.

Skandi, you know a lot more about this than I have ever known. Thanks for the info though I'm not sure what we will do about it for the time being. I sure don't want to buy a new microwave for now. I just never realized that all this stuff interfered with one and other.

I installed two 100-watt LED bulbs in our garage door opener. Now, if the lights are on, I have to be within 20 feet of the opener for the remote to work. What that means is, when I back out of the shed, I have to push the remote button immediately after the truck exits the door or the opener will not shut the door behind me.
I am afraid to put an LED bulb in my floor lamp next to my TV watching chair. If I do, my TV remote may not work while the light is on.
