Saw an ad on Craigslist yesterday morning for some rabbit cages and transport carriers. I emailed the seller, he finally emailed back said he wanted to meet today. Ok, long story short, I almost gave up on the guy as he wouldn't tell me where to meet after repeatedly asking him.
Glad I didn't give up. I picked up a 12 hole stacked cage system, two 24 by 24 cages, two three hole transport carriers, and several J feeders, all for $150.
The 12 hole stack needs a little work, it has a badly bent corner, but I can fix it. The big issue is, each compartment is only 12 by 24. Much too small for my rabbits, so I will likely remove all of the dividers. That still leaves me with a stack of 4 cages, each 36 by 24. It also had all of the dura trays for the stack.
It's all dirty, but a little time with the pressure washer and a pair of sidecuts, maybe a piece of replacement 1by2 wire, and I will be good to go.

Ok, maybe not such a good deal after all. These cages were taken out of a bunny shed a year ago and layed in the yard. Looked like they had never been cleaned in the 9 or 10 years since new. Holy cow, my pressure washer barely got through any of the cakes on bunny poo. I ended up having to put a wire wheel on my grinder work on them.
YUK!!! That was nasty.

So, how did they look after you finished grinding on them? Still sounds like a pretty good deal - well, after you had a hot shower, lol!

Most is down to bare wire. There is a thin area at the back of each cage I just can't get to (on the bottom of the floor wire) because of the tight space between bottom of one and top of the next. So once I ground what I could and pressure washed what I could, I sprayed it all down with a bleach/water mixture. They don't look new by any means, I still have to make a few repairs, but after this weekend they will be usable.
