My sweet little Cushings mare, Rosie, passed away overnight Thursday. She had other things going on internally besides her Cushings issue, but we weren't quite sure what was happening. She walked away form the herd Thursday night and found herself a nice little place to pass away, hidden from our view until yesterday morning. We were able to get her out and bury here near that spot, and now a little piece of my heart is there with her in the ground. Rest easy Rosie girl, you deserve it...

So sorry for your loss. It's hard to lose a companion.

So sorry for your loss. The way you describe it, it sounds like it was a peaceful, painless passing - I hope that's true. Hard to lose our fur-friends.

Sorry for your loss. Something about when a horse dies just takes a little piece of your heart...

She slid down into the ravine several times, there were places she had come and gone into and out of it. The last time, she got to the bottom and sat down on her haunches, with her chest resting on the ground and her head resting on a low branch just as if she were looking out peacefully. It was a heartbreaking sight, yet very calm and peaceful. There was no struggling, just her knowledge that she needed to die.

So sorry. I lost my Lad in December at 27. We need to remember we gave them a good life. Funny how they know when their time is near and find themselves a place.

Rosie definitely had a better life here...and I am so thankful to have spent time with her for these last years. She was with me for 5 years, before that she was alone on a small dirt lot for 18 years. My poor Rosie girl, she at least died knowing we loved her.

Yeah, she knew you loved her and the life you gave her for the last 5 years. Sorry about your loss.
