Mares have been driving me right up the wall. The two mares due May 3rd are still not looking like anything is happening, maiden mares and not bagging up at all. I checked my old mare, due the 10th, last night but she wasn't showing a lot either, no wax, etc. So I went to bed and slept just fine. So when I went out this morning with grain to start feeding this morning, this is the first thing I saw!

Congratulations, I know how much you wanted that filly! Really did have my fingers crossed for another filly as she is the last daughter of my foundation Oldenburg stallion I will ever have. Weltstern died in 2012 at 30 years of age and anyone who owns a daughter rarely sells. She is so much like him in so many ways, the kindness and gentleness with people and she seems to pass that temperament on to her foals as well as the best dam line of any of the mares I have. Her dam was an approved TB mare and produced a licensed Oldenburg stallion, Melody herself was a gold premium foal, competed at mid to upper levels in dressage and has produced several gold premium foals herself. She came to me as an older mare, when she needed something other than a herd situation and I needed to 'downsize' to older, quieter big mares to handle ... which she not only did, but also gave me first, a champagne filly, now a coming 3 year old ... and now this palomino filly. This is Lullabye (Lulu) as a youngster ...

When you said "old mare" in the first post, I was hoping you meant your Weltstern daughter and that it was a girl. How nice!
