I do NOT recommend this incubator. When we first got our incubator, we thought it was strange that the wires were on the outside just laying there - no wrap or cover. The first batch we did went perfectly. Even with help from the technical assistance, we have never been able to reset the hatch day. The digital thermometer/hatch day/humidity portion of the motor has never worked right. I was told to 'just add my hatch days on to the number on the screen' since even they couldn't help with getting it reset. Second batch - the automatic egg turner quit working. OK, so we manually move it whenever we walk by. We can deal with this too. Third batch - the motor starts making a grinding noise. Technical assistance said it was probably the automatic turner probably trying to make a cycle, just keep doing what we are doing. Last night, the incubator died. My eggs are cold. They were due to hatch Easter Sunday. Can anyone recommend an incubator (that isn't foam or handmade) that will last a little longer? This thing was close to $200! Tastes like disappointment....

It has been several years since Sweetie has run her incubator.. It is an older model and gave some trouble getting started. Needing some thermostat parts and such needing a lot of attention to get regulated.. Knock on wood, seems fine now..
Like said, hers is an older model Sportsman brand model 1202.. My cousin, retired president of the Georgia Chicken Fighters Association gave advise on fixing it, and recommended the Sportsman digital model.. Saying it is expensive, but bite the bullet, get it and get busy.. Also saying any of the table top models are not worth the power to run them.
Sweetie and her friend Mad Maxine paid for this one several times over hatching chicks, ducks, geese, fowl of all kinds for bird people around the area..
Good luck..

Once bird people in your area find out you have a good reliable incubator, you will have people at your door.. Sweetie, Nervous Nancy and Mad Max had some sort of system where they hatched on shares and different deals with people depending on the bird of the day..

I have a 1202 I've thought about selling but a friend called and wanted some eggs hatched. I have been pleased with it over the years except for the electronic thermostat I bought and installed in it. It requires a temperature controlled draft free room which my basement is not.
