It began to weaken as it got closer to us.
The storm cell stretched itself out to about 10 miles long creating several funnel clouds .... As it reached us it divided into a north and south cell ..... when it passed over us, we were pretty much right under that split.
Quite a bit of damage 20 miles west of us in Cadott, WI where my DD lives. Took the roof off of the Catholic Church where we have visited many times. 😥

That Dd is fine .... she lives a mile away from the center f town where the funnel touched down ......
But ..... I totally forgot that another DD has just started a job .....working at a home where 3 handicapped men reside needing 24/7 assistance.. This was her very first week alone.
The tornado took the roof off the church just 2 blocks away from that house. The 3 men are all in wheelchairs ..... so no going to the basement. They all just huddled in an interior hallway when the warning sirens went off.
Thank goodness they are all okay, even tho it was very scary for all of them.

Very thankful everyone is safe. We’ve had some very close ones here with some damage and cannot imagine a direct hit.

Glad they are all ok. Are tornadoes common in your area? I think there has only been one actual tornado in our county in the last 100 years. We will have strong winds/storms but the hills tend to break up any tornadoes that might start to form.

How scary to have a tornado so close by! We had a double derecho in part of our county last July, but it was around 25 miles from where we live. The damage to the woods and some homes was pretty bad.
I saw that there were actual tornado WARNINGS last not - not watches, but warnings - in the western part of the state. I remember telling dh that there was a tornado warning near Rice Lake, where we've gone a number of times. And another area was showing up red on the map, so maybe that was your area?
I'm happy that you all are okay!

Melissa, We have somewhat frequent .... every couple of weeks .... storm warnings with the potential to become more severe. We seldom pay much attention to them thinking perhaps the weatherman is just over ambitious. We have one DIL who heads to the basement at the least thought of a bad storm ..... and her young children become frightened and overly concerned. We are more apt to go about our normal routine ..... Or .... if the sky looks extra threatening, we will go outside to get a better view, or stand at the door to watch it come. Last night, my phone kept beeping with warnings of a touch down about 40 miles away ..... so I turned on the TV to follow on radar. When I called my DD to tell her the funnel cloud was a few miles from her town .... she was not too concerned .... but 5 minutes later the funnel had dropped down and went right through her town. I continued following on radar as it approached our town. Went upstairs to close the windows but never did go to the basement. Every year we tend to get a storm or two that does damage .... either a tornado, or straight line winds. Takes down a couple barns, sheds and trees, knocks out the electricity ... Three years ago one destroyed a mobile home community killing a man 😥 .
