My favorite new coleus this year ... it reminds me of eagle feathers!
Runner-up is this stray seedling that looks similar to one that sprouted last year. The 2019 version got darker and less interesting as it matured. I'm hoping this plant will fare better!

Wow, that's pretty! Do you remember the name of that variety?

Wow, those are neat! I have one I call 'Fractal' that probably looks like coral too. It has very complicated leaves!
Honestly, Mother Nature does most of the work! I just grow out the seeds, look for unusual varieties, and sometimes try to improve them in the next generation. I find coleus endlessly fascinating ... you never know what you're gonna get!!

Very pretty! How does coleus do in heat and dry conditions? I think I might add some to the gardens I'm going to set up as memorials for my Mom and my hubby's Mom

Coleus was one of my first gardening successes. I got a preplanted tray kit. They must have put a couple hundred seed in that little planter the size of an egg carton. I transplanted about that many from it. I had them as houseplants and kept pinching them back to get really bushy. Planted a big patch outside beside the porch steps and finally let them go to bloom. What a long what in diversity coleus has come since 1976! I love the highly contrasting ones.... I thought the variety was called dragon something. Looks like I'll have to find some seed or 6-pack now that I've seen Willow's Beauties!

Janinco, I just noticed your post! Coleus doesn't seem to mind heat, but don't let it dry out too much ... it is quick to wilt if neglected, although the plants will usually recover.
