.............These very tasty frozen tamales come in 6 count or 12 count boxes ! They are wrapped in corn husks and close to a full inch thick . A six count box @ Wal Mart cost me $4.73 plus sales tax . Delimex is a Heinz company if that makes any difference . Two of these is a full meal for most tummies . Pour chili over these tamales and you have a delicious txmx meal . Natchos and avocada slices connects the dots for this meal . , fordy

Don't be tempting me with tamales, fordy! I am weak when it comes to those.

I love tamales. First time I ever had them was after my husband and I had spent from sunup to sundown putting up field fencing. Our neighbors walked clear over to our place to hand deliver home made tamales with two cans of ice cold coke. OMgosh. I was hooked. Tried making them twice, not as good and it seemed like a LOT of work. But wow, when the right person makes them- they are delish!

Haven't had a tamale in 15 or so years. Might be worth picking them up so the kids can try them.

I've never eaten a tamale. Can I ask all of you a really dumb question? I know they are made in corn husks, but do you eat the husk, too, or just the part inside?

Just the inside part. And not a dumb question at all- I had to ask the first time I tried one, too.

.............The corn husk is just an outer wrap , the outer layer of the tamale itself is made of 'Masa' corn flour and the meat part is inside . I pour liberal amounts of chili over mine . , fordy

I knew kid back in grade school that ate banana, peel and all! Skinny kid with several brothers so probably anything he could get and keep down was fair game.
Didnt they used to sell canned tamales? Think can was what they used to call a "2 1/2 can". Like large size can of peaches used to be. LOL, suppose 2 1/2 can of peaches would be $5 or $6 if such still existed.

Lol, thanks, guys! That's what I thought, but having never eaten one, I wasn't 100% certain that the husk didn't "tenderize" as it cooked. I bet the first time someone who's never seen a banana might try to eat it, peel and all, too!

Off the subject, but at a store demo, I watched a woman doing a Vitamix demo put the entire banana in while making a smoothie. I passed on trying a sample of that! Haven't had a tamale since I was a child. Have to try some again.

Their taquitos are pretty good too. Corn or flour, beef or chicken.

Haven't had a tamale since I was a child. Have to try some again. I have a Vita-Mix, but I've NEVER tried to grind up a whole banana, peel and all. Not too sure that would be all that appetizing. I've used mine to pulverize whole tomatoes for sauce - that worked really well. Some people say the seeds and skin will make the sauce bitter, but I haven't found that to be the case.

We have a local Mexican grocery store that sells tamales they make. They are really good! We don't buy anything from Heinz.
If you get to our side of the state MGM, I'll treat you!
