Free food! They call them 'Shrimp of the Dirt'. Do a search and you'll find dozens of ways to cook them.

I'm kinda dreading them coming. I think they are ugly little things that make a lot of noise. I'm picturing "The Birds" movie, thinking of how many there will be.

From all the maps I've seen, they're not coming this far north. And I'm okay with that; we have more than enough large insects and spiders to go around already. But I think it would be cool to hear a huge bunch of cicadas. gayle , in my quest to entertain myself, I've watched videos of bug eating (although I haven't watched a cicada one yet). My grandson thinks I'm crazy adventurous when it comes to eating, based on my answer to "what are the weirdest foods you've eaten?" I haven't eaten a cicada. I'm not saying I wouldn't try one of the opportunity or dare presented itself. But I'm not sure.

susannah, a few years ago I considered buying a restaurant that was for sale in town. Among other things, I was going to serve pizzas. I was going to have scorpion-topped pizzas as a drawing card. You can buy dehydrated scorpions with the stingers removed, so it wouldn't have been dangerous. I didn't buy it because they were asking too much. It is still for sale.
