Time to buy a new mop …..
Asking for recommendations?
What about those that come with a bucket that will spin out the excess water?

Gee I'm not the one to direct you about this Tallpines, but My daughter always used the mop you mentioned that spins out the excess water. I could never get used to it. I had a regular sponge mop. One day I mentioned to my younger sister how I would put a rag with cleaner on it down on the floor when something spilled or there was a hard area to get clean in the corners and I would push the rag with my foot to clean the area. This was before my back operation and I couldn't bend at all. Now I have arthritis from the operation, I thin my back is still not right, but much, much better. Anyway when my sister came to visit, she bought me a wet Jet mop and I've been using one of those for years. I still have my regular sponge mop, which I rarely use. Whichever one I use I have to get on my knees to get the underneath of the cabinets and corners. That's a whole other story because I need to hold onto the counter to help myself get up! When we had the two pups I would sweep and wash the floor in the kitchen multiple times a day. Never realized how much dirt they brought in everyday until they were gone. I miss them.

Only have entry, hallway, kitchen and utility room that are not carpet. Dislike hardwood floors. What has to be mopped, I do on my hands and knees, then dry good with an old towel.

My wife uses a string mop that wrings into a bucket by pulling up on a sleeve that slides up the mop handle....similar to the one below. All of our floors are real wood and this mop works well for us.

I'm with you on the wet jet mop. My mom gave me one when she stopped in one day and saw me on my hands and knees washing the kitchen floor. Now that might not sound like a big job to some, but you have to know that my kitchen runs the whole length of the house, which is 30' long and 20' wide! That took quite a while, especially with the arthritis in my knees. I also still have my old sponge mop, which I still use in my grooming shop as the floor is sealed cement and still a little bumpy.

countrymom22,That’s way too large a floor to wash on your hands and bad knees!!! Yay, another one for the wet Jet ✈️ the wash liquid in it doesn’t last all that long though, for me., Prayers for you for the upcoming operation. You’re gonna be like new!

Our floors, which are made from vintage barn wood, would tear up a sponge mop or one o' those mops that have a disposable cloth on the bottom.

I love your floors Cabin Fever ! I'm also going to check out the kind of mop you use. We have hardwood floors in almost all of our house, except where there's tile coming in from the garage, and natural stone floors in the bathrooms. For quick cleaning I use Bona spray and their mop-ish thing on the hardwood, but sometimes I need a little more than that. That mop just might be the answer. The floor that was in the kitchen when we moved here - obviously prior to our ripping it out - was an absolute nightmare of linoleum/vinyl - off white with little flowers, and the whole thing had divots throughout. Not sure if it was supposed to be "texture" or what. But the ONLY way I could get that disgusting floor clean was to use a whole box of Magic Erasers. Yep, on my knees. Then the floor would look okay for a day or two before dust/dirt settled back into those divots. i won't lie, i do not miss that floor one bit.

I love a huge string mop- and have one still- and a big lever squeeze bucket. Probably from my teen/college days as restaurant / janitor work. Now not enough floors space (to use NOR to keep it) for the huge bucket, wring the mop out by hand in the sink as a bucket. However with wood floors I end up pushing a wet rag around with my feet for tough stains, just using a wet industrial sized dust mop for (rare) general mopping of it, getting it wet by washing it without drying it (since it has been used for dry dusting and needs a bath). With our beloved pet roombas though now it's just where we've spilled stuff- wet rag and scrubbing with my foot does the trick, and for pet messes it's paper towels and bending over wiping repeatedly with a spray cleaner then water until I'm happy to walk on the area barefoot again.

I have a steam mop and love it. Other than that, it's a spray of Awesome and a wet rag, push it around with my foot and get down on the floor to do the edges.

I have one like this that I really like. Not sure of the actual brand. We have linoleum floors. It just glides across the floor and really cleans well. I have had it for roughly 15 years. link
