Do you make your own, or, do you buy all-ready made and frozen from your supermarket?
I have NEVER purchased pre-made meatballs …. Have always made ours from scratch.
For those of you that use the store bought, is the flavor to your liking?

I've always made my own meatballs. My mom always made her own recipe of meatballs, but mine are different from hers and my brother's recipe is different from both of ours. Mom always served hers in red sauce. I don't remember my Sicilian grandmother making meatballs very often though, so I'm not sure where Mom's meatball recipe came from. I suspect she made it up.
I may not have bought meatballs but I've eaten store bought meatballs occasionally, usually in something someone made for a potluck. Those meatballs were in a spicy barbecue type sauce. To be honest, I really couldn't taste the meatballs all the much; the sauce was the dominant flavor. Whatever was in the barbecued meatballs, it was really good.
I've never been tempted to buy pre-made meatballs because I make big batches of meatballs from time to time and freeze them in bags for later use. That way I almost always have meatballs on hand when I need them for some recipe.
And now I'm craving meatballs. Which, unfortunately, are NOT on the menu for tonight.

I bought the frozen ones a time or two. The flavor is good. They are good, but not as good as homemade. I enjoy making them from scratch. I usually make two meatloafs and lots of meatballs at once. We eat the meatloaf the first day and meatballs with spaghetti the second night.

I've never eaten a store made meatball or even at a restaurant. That's something I wouldn't order if out to eat. I make my own and freeze a lot of them to use for dinners.

I always make my own.
Will occasionally come across meatballs at a church potluck or family gathering and can always tell if they were homemade or store bought/frozen. To me, the store bought ones just have a mushy texture.

I always make my own. My Mom always did too. We use different recipes based on whether we want use a red sauce/italian flavor or sometimes we put the meatballs in duck sauce and want a slightly more mild meatball. I also make carb free meatballs for my sister in law, which even without the bread crumbs taste really good.
I don't think I've ever had the store bought meatballs and we don't order meatballs when we do occasionally go out to eat.

Store bought sometimes. Usually the all-beef ones from Sam's. Not as good as homemade, which we normally do.
We like to make ours with beef and pork. We'll make them up, place them on cookie sheets and place them in the freezer. After they freeze, we take them off the pans and place in ziploc bags. Then back to the freezer they go. That way, we just pull out what we need. Two, four, whatever...

We make our own "meatballs" because no one makes them like we do. Our meatballs have no meat in them. They are made from coarsely-ground chickpeas, flax egg, bread crumbs, onions, nutritional yeast and spices. These freeze nicely, too.

Once, twice a year here in Pot Hole City, the Italian Club will sell homemade sauce and homemade frozen meat balls as a fund raiser... VERY good eats..

I'm trying to reduce meat consumption even though ours is nearly all homegrown. Thanks.
