Just two inches so far, and a tie for the second-mildest winter.

Yes, this has been the mildest winter that I remember. Son works for the Village & hurt his back Christmas week at work, so has been out on compensation since then. Boy was he annoyed that he didn't miss even one snow plowing day and night this winter! It really has been an odd winter here and I'm wondering what summer will bring...scorching temps I'm thinking.

No snow here this winter. While that was a good thing because I would have felt bad that hubby and son would have had to shovel without me, it was a good thing that I didn't have to try and get around in the snow after my surgery. So from that point of view, it was a blessing. But we are already much too dry here. We haven't had a good, solid rain in a few weeks and the ground is cracking. And it's only April! We may get some rain over the weekend, which is much needed, but I hope it holds off till Sunday as hubby will be on the train all day Saturday for a special photo op for the train buffs.
It was 90 here today. Way too hot for me at any time, but especially this early in the season. I'm not ready to have to water the garden every day yet!

I believe summer’s going to be one of the hottest ever. It’s April 14th and yesterday and today it was 91 & 92. That really smacked me in the face, especially on my walk. I was out early too, so much cooler than it’s now. I’m not looking forward to summer, actually dreading it. I have to buy a new AC, was going to try to do without this year, but the last two nights have pushed me to hurry and order one. So good to see you back countrymom22, you were missed. I had a feeling your second knee replacement would be worse, I’m sorry. You’re a tough one, hang in there! I’ll continue my prayers for you🙏

I'm worried about the summer as well, Woodpecker. My son and DIL's central AC unit died at the end of last year. The repair man told them it was beyond help, the best he could do was give it a charge that would get them through the last 10 days of heat, which thankfully, it did. Now it needs replacing and DIL is 25 weeks pregnant! She hates the heat at the best of times, but now she will be down right miserable if they don't replace it soon. They were quoted about $6000! Ouch. And that was a year ago. Who knows what it will cost now with the inflation added in. Not sure what they are going to do. The actual rehab wasn't bad after the surgery, but this exceptional swelling is making me crazy! My gait is effected which makes doing anything unpleasant. But I'm trying to just ignore it and do the best I can. I think it was harder for me mentally this time. I expected to be feeling great and back to work in 3 weeks like the last time. Just didn't work out that way. And driving is still somewhat painful, also due to the swelling. I was way more tired than ever before too. I was, and still am if I'm honest, napping every day. Usually not intentionally either! I just seem to sit down and fall asleep! Even when I'm folding the laundry! It's crazy. But I'm sure things will get back to a new normal for me eventually. Thanks for the prayers. I really appreciate them!

That sounds terrible countrymom22, and so bothersome! I’m sure you’re icing the knee as much as possible. I have two ice packs in the morning. One for lower back and another new problem. I have arthritis in my fingers and the joints have been swollen for some time now. So the other ice pack is ion my left hand, mainly the middle finger which has my mother’s diamond wedding ring on it. The finger has swelled so much I can barely move the ring at all, much less get it off! Did surgeon give you a reason this new operation has caused so much more swelling than the first? Can he give you anything, an anti inflammatory? My doctor wouldn’t give me cortisone for swelling because I’m also having a B/P problem & those makes make people nervous and jumpy. Isn’t fun at all, I feel for you 🤗 taking naps when needed is good, so you just keep napping until you feel up to it. I’m continuing my prayers for you🙏💕 Weird, gloomy day here, 50’s and tonight in the 40’s. My pear tree has flowers, I’m excited hoping we get some pears this year. None last year, but they’re so delicious I’m tasting them in my mind already. I still having netting and will cover them ASAP before the birds get them before I do. That’s happened too.

Most of the swelling is normal and may take 12 to 18 months to fully go away. My OT therapist thinks I may have lymphodema as I did have some lymph nodes on the right side removed when I had breast cancer surgery. I'm hoping when the swelling goes down, which did take about 9 or 10 months with the left knee, and I can start my weight loss again, that the pressure leggings will no longer be necessary. But only time will tell.
We also have a pear tree that is blooming. Hoping we don't have any late frosts like we did last year. We didn't get any pears or apples last year.
I know when my arthritis acts up, it means I've been eating too many carbs. Even the healthy ones. If I cut back, in a week or so I see a real difference in my pain level. And Vit C really helps me too. I won't take any kind of anti-inflammatory or pain killers right now because the statin my doc put me on caused my liver to go crazy, so I'm not taking anything and just letting my body do its own healing thing. The PT therapist told me that the ice is good for pain management but that after the first 24-48 hours it won't affect the swelling. But I'm getting by. Just thankful that next Tuesday is my last OT appointment, unless I start having any other problems. Keeping my fingers crossed! Hope your pain gets better soon!
